The ideas are bountiful in this room designed for 4 year old Gavan. Starting from the hand painted canvas drawers to the whimsical carved bed, each item has been design with purpose and meaning.

The room is painted in a muted finish along two walls with a faux painted frame around the window. The window treatment (Project #101) is a unique design of seashells  strung about a iron rod and backed with a linen roman shade. As Gavan settles down for bed he can be calmed by the gentle chimes made from the shells blowing in the wind.

Nestled in the corner is a real birch branch strategically placed to hold the "natural" wildlife that rests there.  The rocker is made from local Amish crafters from natural woods - a "must have" in any kids room. In the opposite corner above is a hand made mobile of more gathered shells playfully hanging on a twig branch.  Notice the small canvas painted by the window...Gavan's latest work of art!

The bed is created from hard wood and painted to resemble the ocean and it's waves.  Atop each bed post sits a seagull waiting for its next catch. The wall shelf is painted in a pleasing palette of colors and adorned with colored hand made paper in a decoupage type style. Actually an unfinished medicine cabinet, it makes a great tape or CD holder. In keeping with the ocean's theme, silver starfish pulls were added on the doors.

Mom is sure to be pleased when asked to put away clothing in these labeled dresser drawers (Project # 103)! Each one is painted in a funky font making it easier for Gavan and neater for mom.  Made from a chest of drawers found at a local retail shop and customized with paint.
